Alex Pereira Addresses Boxing Transition Hurdles

By MMAReign News Desk·Oct 8, 2026 • 11:02 PM

UFC heavyweight Alex Pereira has downplayed the likelihood of a transition to professional boxing, citing the difficulty of such a move while he remains focused on his upcoming UFC 335 matchup against Sergei Pavlovich.

UFC heavyweight contender Alex Pereira has tempered expectations regarding a potential transition to professional boxing. While speculation often follows high-profile strikers moving between combat disciplines, Pereira indicated that such a shift is currently unlikely for his career.

Speaking on the logistical and competitive landscape, Pereira noted that a move to the boxing ring is 'kind of impossible' under his current circumstances. The former two-division champion remains fully committed to his duties within the UFC, where he is currently preparing for his next major assignment.

Pereira is scheduled to return to the Octagon at UFC 335 in December, where he will face Sergei Pavlovich in a five-round heavyweight co-main event. This bout marks Pereira's second appearance in the heavyweight division, highlighting his focus on navigating the top tier of the UFC's heaviest weight class.

While other fighters in the MMA landscape have recently vocalized interest in pursuing boxing matches, Pereira’s path remains tethered to his active schedule inside the promotion. The heavyweight standout is currently balancing his training camp with the demands of top-level mixed martial arts competition, leaving little room for ventures into other combat sports.
