Aljamain Sterling Proposes Title Eliminator Bout Against Jean Silva
Aljamain Sterling has publicly called for a featherweight title eliminator fight against Jean Silva in December to establish the next challenger for the division.
Former bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling is looking to solidify his position in the featherweight division by calling for a high-stakes matchup against surging prospect Jean Silva. Sterling suggested a title eliminator fight for December, arguing that the pairing is a logical next step for the division.
Sterling's comments come on the heels of Jean Silva’s recent performance at Noche UFC, where he secured his second consecutive victory by knocking out Jose Miguel Delgado in the main event. Following that win, Silva expressed interest in facing the winner of the upcoming featherweight title bout.
Sterling views the potential matchup as a clear path forward for both men to claim the top contender spot. He remarked that arranging such a fight is straightforward, stating, 'I don’t think it’s rocket science.' While no official booking has been confirmed by the promotion, Sterling’s public campaign aims to force clarity at the top of the 145-pound rankings as the division prepares for its next championship cycle.
