Dana White Awards UFC Contract to Adama Diop Following DWCS Appearance

By MMAReign News Desk·Sep 30, 2026 • 1:07 PM

Dana White signed heavyweight Adama Diop to a UFC contract following a lackluster performance on Dana White's Contender Series.

Despite expressing significant frustration with the quality of the fight, UFC CEO Dana White has officially signed heavyweight Adama Diop to a promotion contract following his appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series this week.

Diop entered the bout against Zaurbek Sabanov as a significant +410 underdog, while Sabanov was favored at -590. The contest drew sharp criticism from White, who labeled the performance 'horrible' and 'sloppy.' According to reports, both fighters appeared visibly fatigued following the conclusion of the first round, failing to impress the brass during the high-stakes audition.

Notwithstanding the harsh post-fight assessment from the UFC leader, Diop managed to secure the contract and a future spot on the roster. The signing marks another addition to the heavyweight division from the current season of the Contender Series, despite the lack of technical polish displayed during the matchup.
