Dana White Dismisses Reports of Conflict with Tom Aspinall

By MMAReign News Desk·Sep 20, 2026 • 3:01 PM

Dana White denied any conflict with former heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall following the fighter's decision to vacate his title due to recurring eye injuries.

UFC CEO Dana White has moved to clear the air regarding the status of his relationship with former heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. Addressing recent speculation, White stated that there is no animosity between the promotion and the fighter, despite the recent developments regarding Aspinall's championship status.

Earlier this week, it was officially confirmed that Aspinall has vacated his UFC heavyweight title. The decision followed the re-aggravation of eye injuries originally sustained during his championship bout against Ciryl Gane. Aspinall’s departure from the title picture has led to significant shifts in the division, with Gane being elevated following his interim title victory.

During his comments, White also pivoted to address external criticisms, specifically targeting boxing promoter Eddie Hearn. White suggested that Hearn is struggling within the competitive landscape of the boxing business, dismissing the promoter's influence on the UFC's current heavyweight situation.

With Aspinall stepping aside due to medical concerns and Ciryl Gane established as the undisputed champion, the heavyweight division enters a new phase. For fantasy managers, the absence of Aspinall shifts the strategic landscape of the division, as Gane is now firmly set to headline upcoming marquee events. The promotion continues to adjust its heavyweight trajectory as it moves forward with the newly undisputed champion.
