By MMAReign News Desk·Oct 6, 2026 • 6:30 PM

Former UFC lightweight Edson Barboza has signed with the Absolute Championship of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (ACBJJ) following his retirement from mixed martial arts.

Former UFC lightweight standout Edson Barboza has embarked on a new athletic chapter less than two months after announcing his retirement from mixed martial arts. At 40 years old, the Brazilian veteran has signed with the Absolute Championship of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (ACBJJ). Barboza, a career striker in the Octagon, will transition to the mats to participate in the promotion's Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments and super fights. While he has officially concluded his professional MMA career, the move to ACBJJ indicates he intends to remain active in combat sports competition rather than stepping away from the spotlight entirely. Barboza remains one of the most recognizable figures from the UFC's lightweight division, known for his spectacular highlight-reel knockouts. His entry into high-level BJJ competition adds a significant name to the ACBJJ roster as the promotion continues to showcase both tournament-based and featured grappling matches.
