Israel Adesanya Announces Readiness to Return to Competition

By MMAReign News Desk·Oct 27, 2026 • 10:03 PM

Former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya announced he is ready to return to competition, noting that he has rediscovered his motivation after a hiatus following his loss to Joe Pyfer.

Former two-time UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has signaled his intention to return to the octagon. Speaking during an appearance on Demetrious Johnson’s podcast, Adesanya revealed that he has rediscovered his passion for the sport after a difficult period in his career.

Adesanya, known as 'The Last Stylebender,' admitted that competing had ceased to be enjoyable for him in recent years, stating, 'I was lost.' This period of introspection follows his last appearance in the cage, where he suffered a second-round knockout loss to Joe Pyfer at UFC Seattle earlier this year.

While Adesanya has been sidelined since that defeat, the former champion confirmed that he is now 'officially ready to go again.' No specific opponent or date for his return has been announced, but his declaration marks a significant shift for the middleweight division, where he has long been a focal point of the title picture. His focus now appears to be on regaining the fire that defined his rise to championship status.
