Muhammad Mokaev Eyes Potential Matchup Against Joshua Van
Former UFC fighter Muhammad Mokaev has publicly called for a fight against Joshua Van, though Mokaev's current status with the UFC makes such a matchup improbable.
Former UFC flyweight Muhammad Mokaev has expressed interest in a potential fight against surging prospect Joshua Van. Following Van's recent statement victory at UFC 331, Mokaev took to social media to comment on the matchup, stating that he believes he is levels above the current flyweight contender and suggesting that the promotion should make the fight happen.
Joshua Van has rapidly climbed the ranks of the flyweight division, entering the pound-for-pound conversation following his recent performance against Alexandre Pantoja. Despite the potential for a compelling stylistic clash between the two, Mokaev remains outside of the UFC roster. Reports indicate that Mokaev is currently not in favor with UFC officials, making a booking against any active UFC fighter, including Van, highly unlikely in the near future. While Mokaev advocates for the pairing, there is no indication that the organization is pursuing this bout.
