Patricio Freire Targets No. 5-Ranked Featherweight Jean Silva for Next Bout

Patricio 'Pitbull' Freire has set his sights on a new opponent in the UFC featherweight division. Despite remaining unranked and struggling to find consistency in his UFC tenure, the former Bellator double-champion is pushing for a matchup against No. 5-ranked contender Jean Silva. Freire, who holds a professional record of 38-9, has publicly criticized Silva, suggesting that the rising contender is avoiding a potential clash between the two. While Freire's Bellator legacy remains a centerpiece of his career accomplishments, he has yet to string together back-to-back victories within the Octagon. He appears to be leveraging his championship pedigree to secure high-profile opportunities as he seeks to climb the 145-pound rankings. Silva, who has gained significant traction in the division, has not yet issued a formal response to the callout from the veteran Freire. As the UFC featherweight landscape continues to evolve, the demand for ranked spots remains high, making it unclear if Freire's current standing warrants a direct path to the top five.
