Petr Yan Targets Potential Sean O'Malley Rematch for 2027
UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan is looking to book a rematch against Sean O'Malley in 2027 should he successfully defend his title against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 333.
Current UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan has set his sights on a potential rematch against Sean O'Malley for his next title defense in 2027. While Yan is currently focused on his co-main event trilogy bout against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 333, he expressed interest in addressing his past loss to O'Malley.
Yan and O'Malley previously met in 2022, a contest that ended in a split decision victory for O'Malley. Nearly four years later, Yan maintains that there is unfinished business between the two. The champion suggested that a victory over Dvalishvili at UFC 333 would position him perfectly to pursue an opportunity to avenge the previous defeat early next year.
"We have history," Yan stated, highlighting the lingering competitive narrative between himself and the former champion. While Yan remains locked in his preparations for the high-stakes clash in Abu Dhabi, his public interest in a future showdown with O'Malley signals a clear strategic preference for his upcoming campaign if he successfully retains his belt at UFC 333.
