Renato Moicano Criticizes Brian Ortega Following UFC 331 Withdrawal

By MMAReign News Desk·Sep 16, 2026 • 3:01 PM

Renato Moicano has publicly criticized Brian Ortega for withdrawing from their scheduled UFC 331 bout, while moving forward with a newly booked fight against Tom Nolan for October 31.

Renato Moicano has publicly expressed significant frustration following the cancellation of his scheduled bout against Brian Ortega at UFC 331. The matchup, which was set for September 19, marks the second time Ortega has withdrawn from a fight against the Brazilian. Moicano stated he is "f*cking outraged" by the situation, suggesting that Ortega’s repeated pullouts have severely damaged his credibility among peers and fans, claiming that "nobody is ever going to trust you again."

Despite the frustration surrounding the Ortega situation, Moicano has moved forward with his career trajectory. He is currently booked to face Tom Nolan in a featherweight contest scheduled for October 31. The bout provides Moicano with an immediate opportunity to return to active competition following the logistical disruption caused by the late change to the UFC 331 card. While the promotion has finalized the new pairing with Nolan, Moicano’s comments reflect lingering tension regarding the repeated nature of his matchup with Ortega, which previously fell through in March.
