Ryan Garcia Expresses Disappointment Over Oscar De La Hoya's Absence at Benn Fight

By MMAReign News Desk·Sep 15, 2026 • 2:01 PM

Ryan Garcia stated he was disappointed that promoter Oscar De La Hoya did not attend his recent second-round stoppage victory over Conor Benn.

Ryan Garcia has publicly addressed the absence of Oscar De La Hoya during his recent high-profile boxing match against Conor Benn. While Garcia acknowledged that certain parties preferred De La Hoya not be in attendance, he admitted he would have personally appreciated his presence at the event. The bout, which took place this past weekend, resulted in a swift victory for Garcia, who secured a stoppage win over Benn inside of two rounds.

The event served as a collaborative co-promotion between Zuffa Boxing and De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. Despite the successful outcome of the fight and the promotional partnership, the lack of personal support from De La Hoya on fight night remained a point of contention for Garcia. The fighter noted that his sentiment stems from a desire for traditional support structures during major professional milestones, even as the broader promotional framework for the event functioned as intended under the Zuffa and Golden Boy banner.
