Undefeated Welterweight Michael Morales Eyes Return to Octagon in 2027

Undefeated UFC welterweight contender Michael Morales has officially turned his attention to the division's landscape as he prepares for his next competitive outing. After remaining sidelined for the duration of the 2026 calendar year, the surging fighter is looking to re-enter the cage against any high-level opponent willing to test him.

While the promotional schedule for late 2026 continues to populate with upcoming events, reports suggest that a return to action for Morales may not materialize until 2027. Despite the hiatus, Morales remains focused on maintaining his momentum and securing a meaningful matchup that could propel him further up the 170-pound rankings.

The prospect of Morales’ return has already drawn interest within the division, including a public response from Ian Machado Garry. As the welterweight division remains one of the UFC's most volatile and talent-dense weight classes, Morales’ eventual re-emergence is expected to provide a significant test for his future opposition. Morales currently continues his training as he awaits an official booking from the promotion for his first fight of the upcoming year.
